This is Miss Castle's sixth year teaching in Boone County and her third year at R.A. Jones. She is very proud of the accomplishments of last years bands and looking forward to another "distinguished" year of growth and fun at RA. In addition to directing the bands and choirs at R.A. Jones, Miss Castle also serves as one of the assistant marching band directors at Boone County High School and teaches private clarinet lessons though their Private Lessons Conservatory.
Prior to coming to R.A. Jones, Miss Castle taught arts & humanities and music at Erpenbeck Elementary for a year. The following year, she moved to Kelly Elementary where she was the general music teacher for two years. During her time at Kelly, Miss Castle reinstated the extracurricular chorus program, coordinated the school's talent show, and planned and choreographed a flash mob in which the entire school participated. In addition to her teaching responsibilities at Kelly, Miss Castle stayed involved in the band world as much as possible by teaching private clarinet lessons and sectionals at Boone County High School and performing regularly in local and church ensembles.
Miss Castle received her Bachelor's degree in music education from Morehead State University in December of 2010. While at Morehead, Miss Castle played clarinet in the marching band and symphony band. In 2008, she had the privilege of traveling to Spain with the symphony band to play a week long concert tour under the direction of Dr. Richard Miles. Miss Castle was actively involved in Morehead's chapter of NAfME as well as secretary, president, and treasurer of Sigma Alpha Iota, an international music fraternity for women.
Upon completion of her degree, Miss Castle spent the following three summers completing levels in the Kodaly method for teaching music. She received her certification from the Kodaly Institute of Kentucky in July of 2013. She is actively pursuing her Master's degree in music education with an emphasis on the Kodaly method from Morehead State University and plans to complete her degree in 2018.
Miss Castle grew up in the Northern Kentucky area. She currently resides in Burlington, Kentucky with her two fur babies, Albus and Aslan.
