Practice Policy
Students are expected to practice their instrument outside of class. We do not have a formal practice policy for band because of circumstances beyond our control - students not being able to transport large instruments on the bus, students not being able to practice in apartment buildings, etc. Despite the fact that there is no formal policy, students are still expected to practice their horns. There are opportunities for children to practice during school hours if they cannot get in the time at home. The band room is open every day during lunch as well as after school on Mondays until 4:30pm. Please encourage your child to practice! Ideally, students should be putting in 20-30 minutes a day. Practice builds confidence, muscle memory, and the skills necessary to be a great musician. Our groups will excel and play better if everyone is does their part and practices.
